CHAPLAINCY & SPIRITUAL CARE UNITS
1. ECT UNIT - EDUCATION CARE THERAPY
Our Education Care Therapy chaplains perform and provide educational support and involved in the religious programs and activities of the clienteles. We work in an ecumenical environment while remaining true to our own religious beliefs. We provide or facilitate worship opportunities, pastoral counseling, interfaith dialogue, mentoring, and referral to other professionals as needed. In addition, we may participate in memorial services, religious observances, and other religious activities. Educational therapists are responsible for helping people with disabilities or other special needs to overcome obstacles and achieve success. We commonly work with children who have a wide range of issues, including learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, emotional disturbances, and physical disabilities.
Our Educational therapists have a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:
- Providing individual therapy sessions to people with special needs, including those with emotional problems or physical disabilities.
- Observing people’ classroom behavior and communicating with teachers to identify academic or behavioral difficulties.
- Conducting evaluations to assess a student’s learning needs and strengths.
- Teaching specific skills to people who are having trouble with specific academic tasks such as reading or math.
- Developing individualized educational plans for people with special needs to help them reach our academic potential.
- Conducting group therapy sessions with people or parents to address social or emotional issues that are affecting the student’s ability to learn.
- Assessing the effectiveness of treatment programs to ensure that goals are being met.
- Providing counseling services to people or parents to help them cope with emotional issues affecting our school performance.
- Conducting family therapy sessions to help parents understand our child’s behavior and how to support them in school.
Demand for educational therapists is expected to increase as more children with special needs are identified and receive services. In addition, demand will be driven by the need for speech-language pathologists (SLPs) and other types of healthcare providers to work in interdisciplinary teams.
2. CPS UNIT - CIVIC AND PUBLIC SAFETY
Public safety chaplains primarily provide pastoral care and religious support to first responder agencies. These chaplains provide ministry to survivors, bystanders, and victims involved in traumatic situations. We provide spiritual care and support to the first responders, our families, and our staff and coworkers. Targeting the destitute, Homeless etc. First responders are often the first to arrive to the scene of an emergency or disaster. We provide services essential to the response and the community. Another term that refers to first responders is emergency response providers. The major groups of first responders include emergency medical services (EMS) personnel, firefighters, and police officers. Sometimes, healthcare providers, including physicians and nurses, respond to emergencies and disasters. First responders are a critical component of preparing for, responding to, and recovering from a disaster.
3. ERC UNIT - EMERGENCY RESPONSE CARE
Specialized group of Chaplains that provide services during disasters or crisis situations at the Hospital that may be overwhelming to staff (Natural Disasters, Multiple Car Accidents, Violent acts, Deaths of children) - would be likely to seek counsel from a spiritual care provider in such circumstances.
Chaplains are needed to respond to crises and disasters on a large scale, in order to utilize our role and skills in an intentional manner to enhance the coping capabilities and spiritual reactions to such events.
The Chaplain offers spiritual support to Ambulance Service staff, patients and our families. This ministry is manifested most clearly in times of crisis. The Chaplains are committed to respect the dignity and faith tradition of each individual, and to guide and direct the spiritual climate of the organization. We base our pastoral care ministry on an inclusive basis, open to persons of all faiths or no faith. The Chaplains also facilitate communication between patients and our faith communities and provide spiritual guidance to patients and family members of the patient when a disabling injury or a death occurs. The Chaplain should respond as often as possible to all major fire incidents and critical calls including fatalities.
4. CRC UNIT - CORPORATE CARE
Our Corporate chaplains provide one-on one ministry and pastoral counseling, and we nurture employee relationships. We help employees deal with work-related stress and personal relationships through seminars, conferences, etc. Our professional chaplains are called to be workplace caregivers. We are dedicated to supporting the emotional wellness of employees. We have a heart for employees and understand the workplace as we have been there themselves dealing with stress, co-worker and supervisor conflicts, long hours and work dissatisfaction. Our Chaplain Care Teams are fully-trained, managed, held accountable and supported by full-time Leaders.
Our chaplains see employees as God sees them and are granted permission by company leaders like you to help people move out of ditches, towards a better destination and into better places of influence for themselves, our co-workers, our family and, ultimately, your company.
5. HCT UNIT - HEALTHCARE AND THERAPY
Healthcare chaplains perform and provide a variety of ministries. We offer spiritual guidance and ministry to patients and family members in a healthcare setting. We serve on healthcare teams to provide a unified approach to patient care. We function as patient advocates and act as religious advisers on medical ethics boards. Chaplains in the healthcare arena also provide pastoral counseling and help to meet end-of-life needs of dying patients. We seek to meet the religious needs of those we serve.
6. HSC UNIT - HOSPICE SPIRITUAL CARE
As a hospice chaplain, you will be responsible for providing spiritual care support and guidance that honors the patient's beliefs and values. Working with the care team, you will develop, implement, and supervise the spiritual needs of the patient and family. Hospice chaplain provides spiritual care to Hospice patients/families at home or in-patient settings according to the Standards for Excellence in Spiritual Care established by the Trinity Health Care System, regulatory agencies and national competency standards for Hospice chaplains.
7. CRR UNIT - CORRECTIONAL RESPONSE AND REHABILITATION
The primary responsibility of our Correctional and Rehabilitation Chaplains is to serve the spiritual needs of people in prisons and detention and rehabilitation centers. The scope of our ministry varies from facility to facility and depends on restrictions established by the facility directors. Types of ministerial activities may include advising prison staff on ethical, moral, and spiritual concerns; administering religious programs; leading religious services; and facilitating religious education.
Correctional and rehabilitation chaplains also provide pastoral counseling and other services to inmates and our families; teach gospel principles, including the relationship between justice, mercy, and forgiveness in the repentance process; and participate in staff meetings that deal with rehabilitation and other restorative issues.
